ABOUT US

Our company was founded in 2016, specializing in the prevention and mitigation of major accident hazards in the oil and gas and process industries, and all activities associated with that. On top of our wide portfolio of Process Safety and HSE products, we also specialize in translating the outcomes of Process Safety and HSE studies and evaluations into practical and sound engineering solutions that are proven to work. With a track record of numerous large and small FEED and EPC projects in the renewables, offshore and onshore oil and gas, as well as petrochemical industries, and our operational experience, our unique advantage lies in the swift and effective application of our nearly two decades of design- and operational experience.

About our consultant

OGC Process Safety was founded by Roel van Veen, an experienced professional with a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Twente. Roel holds a European Occupational Health & Safety Manager (EurOSHM) qualification and is an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (AMIChemE).

Throughout his 25+ year career, Roel has gained diverse experience in safety engineering, process safety, and HSE management roles across upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. During over a decade at an FPSOoperator, he played key roles in Lead Engineer and HSE Manager capacities for various projects, including newbuilt FPSO projects, FPSO relocations, brownfield FPSO modifications, and unique initiatives such as turrets, soft yoke mooring systems, and an arctic loading tower. His responsibilities included design verification, Safety Case development, and securing environmental permits for FPSOs.

During his tenure at a prominent engineering contractor, Roel served as an HSE Design Manager for FLNG conceptdesigns and FEED studies. He also contributed as a Technical Safety Engineer for the FEED and EPC of a SPAR, and as a Lead Safety Engineer for greenfield midstream and downstream/refinery projects.

Roel’s diverse experience includes roles in owner’s engineers’ teams for FLNG FEED studies and small floating production projects within oil and gas companies. Notably, he is skilled in HAZID and HAZOP/LOPA facilitation and has shared his expertise as a guest lecturer in Technical Safety and Risk Assessment at the Catholic University of Leuven. He has a special liking for teaching, and he has developed a number of bespoke shorter and longer courses in the field of safety engineering, risk assessment and process safety.
